Installing Custom Roms Simplified

For most android devices installing a custom rom can sometimes be a tedious process if you do not get the procedure right. There are applications that have made the process very smooth if you follow the rules properly. For this to be possible the device must be rooted (check my earlier post on how to root android devices) .

If you have successfully rooted the device then the next procedure is looking for the right custom rom. forumxda.com comes in handy at this point because every device that can handle a custom rom has been listed with its best roms.Download the one that suits you and save it to your SD card as you did with the z4root app.

Then go to googleplay store and search for rom manager and choose clockworkmod. install it and run it. The first option asks you to flash the clockworkmod recovery,do so.Then shut down your device and press the combination keys  that are given where you downloaded the custom rom to boot into recovery.

Wipe data/settings or follow the steps given where you got the rom. choose install from SDcard while following the procedure from the rom developer. Reboot and you have successfully installed a custom rom.

Note: most roms take sometime to boot when flashed so you should be patient because some take upto 10 minutes
